From Lake Charles to New Orleans to Mobile and on….
Hey y’all! So, I’ve come to the conclusion that I love touring. It’s an amazing mixture of music, traveling, and work. My brother Cory and I are 6 days into the tour… now heading to Knoxville, TN from Decatur, GA.
Check out this crazy footage from my first 3 shows (Lake Charles, New Orleans and Mobile, AL)…
Here are some quick updates from each city!
Day 1 – Lake Charles, LA
I stayed in my first trailer park in Lake Charles! They’re awesome – nice and cozy. It’s cool playing in small towns because more people come out to the shows and enjoy the music. I played at The Porch Coffeehouse, which I’ll be returning to play as my final stop of the tour.
Day 2 – New Orleans, LA
New Orleans is an unbelievable city. From unbelievable Cajun food to crazy old dudes dancing to my music to insanity on Bourbon street, it really lives up to the hype. Check the footage above to see an old man from Ghana intrepretively dancing to my music. We played at a cool dive bar in the French Quarter called Checkpoint Charlie’s and hung out with my awesome friend Mandi who is a clown, magician’s assistant, comedian and all-around entertainer. I’m excited to come back for my birthday on the way back down.
Day 3 – Mobile, AL
I never thought Alabama would actually be cool! Mobile is a really nice, little city and the guy I CouchSurfed with, Ken Jones, is the man. He cooked us amazing food and was extremely hospitable. We played at Serda’s Coffee Co. A bunch of awesome high school kids heard my name on the radio and came out to watch. After some late night potatoes and vegetables from Ken’s father’s farm, we crashed and headed out the next morning…
Day 4 – Auburn, AL
We had an awesome day off in Auburn, AL! A very green, cool little city – we stayed in our second trailer park (I’m starting to love these things). Our host Anna Ruth invited a bunch of friends over and cooked Fettucini Alfredo with Ham, Broccoli, and Onions. It was amazing. We were supposed to watch the canceled Sci-Fi series Firefly, but instead I gave everyone a private concert (culminating in me knocking a bunch of glasses over and almost staining the carpet). After a long night of drinking and talking about everything from astrology to lesbian love problems to her cat that get’s caught up in trees for days, we crashed.
Next is Decatur, GA….then Knoxville, TN…Johnson City…Morristown…Charlotte and onward!
Peace!
